Pisa’s most historic hotel, the Royal Victoria first opened in 1837 when the Piegaja family (whose descendants still run the business) purchased an old medieval tower and turned it into the city’s first hotel. Found to the right across Ponte di Mezzo, the hotel’s history, frescoed ceilings and near-original furnishings (which have welcomed such illustrious names as Charles Dickens) make advance bookings necessary.
